Interest on “savers” is falling. Investown will still earn you up to 10,5%

Czechs have long enjoyed high interest rates on savings accounts. But this period is gone, as banks began to reduce yields on savings products at the turn of winter and spring. However, at Investown you can still value your money with a high interest rate of up to 10,5%, so it pays to invest more than before.

On Wednesday, March 20, 2024, the Czech National Bank (CNB) lowered interest rates for the third time in a row, namely the base interest rate dropped to 5.75%. That's great news for anyone looking to take out a mortgage or consumer credit -- in short, because they're borrowing more cheaply now.

Interest rates will go down even in small banks

Less joy is already being enjoyed by savers who leave most of their money lying in savings accounts or term deposits: along with interest on loans, the income of savings products also decreases.

While at the beginning of this year the “orderlies” were earning 5-6% p.a., now interest rates are going down steeply. First, the larger banks were committed to reducing them. Smaller ones are keeping rates around 6% for now, as their current goal is the acquisition of new customers as part of marketing events. But once these bargains are over, even small banks are very likely to reduce returns, from day to day.
